Christy Kestner, PhD

Neuroimmunologist | Science Communicator | Scientific Consultant

Making neuroscience and immunology accessible while building scientific literacy in an age of misinformation.

About me

Hi, I’m Christy. I’m a PhD-trained neuroscientist and neuroimmunologist, science communicator, writer, and consultant.

I spent more than a decade in academic research, earning my PhD in neuroimmunology and completing postdoctoral training in oncology drug discovery before moving into science communication and consulting. My scientific background spans neuroscience, neuroimmunology, immunology, cancer biology, and drug development.

Today, my work sits at the intersection of science, communication, and scientific literacy. I create evidence-based content that helps people understand not only what research says, but how science actually works and how evidence is generated, what a study can and cannot tell us, and how misinformation can distort that process.

I’m also the founder of Brain & Beyond, where I create accessible science content focused on neuroscience, immunology, and scientific literacy.

Outside of science, you’ll usually find me playing tennis, traveling, hiking somewhere with my husband, hanging out with our rescue dog Charlie, or looking for my next really good meal.

Brain & Beyond

Science beyond the headline.

I founded Brain & Beyond to make complex science more accessible without stripping away the nuance that makes it accurate. Through evidence-based content on neuroscience, immunology, and scientific literacy, Brain & Beyond helps people understand both scientific findings and the process behind them.
